THIS PAST SUNDAY

Can God count on you?

  • How about when it feels like He isn’t coming through for you? Will you remain faithful to the Lord?
  • How about when worldly things seem more appealing than Him? Will you remain faithful to the Lord?

These are tough questions. Faithfulness isn’t always easy. I was remarking to Ken Hathcoat last Sunday night that this sermon series on the Fruit of the Spirit has hit me harder personally than any other sermon series I’ve preached. Each fruit seems to be supernaturally appropriate to my own life. I wasn’t expecting that when I was planning on this series. I was planning on this being a fun kids series–but it seems God had other plans! I am praying that the Spirit’s fruit be borne in my life more than ever before. As I seek to abide in Christ and for Him to abide in me, will you do the same? Together, let’s let the Lord have His way in our lives so that we can produce much fruit. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.

–Pastor Tim

WORSHIP CORNER

WHAT IS WORSHIP?
“It is the soul searching for its counterpart.
It is a thirsty land crying out for rain.
It is a candle in the act of being kindled.
It is a drop in quest of the ocean.
It is a man listening through a tornado for the Still Small Voice.
It is the voice in the night calling for help.
It is a sheep lost in the wilderness pleading for rescue by the Good Shepherd.
It is the same sheep nestling in the arms of the Rescuer.
It is the Prodigal Son running to his Father.
It is a soul standing in awe before the mystery of the Universe.
It is a poet enthralled by the beauty of a sunrise.
It is a workman pausing a moment to listen to a strain of music.
It is a hungry heart seeking for love.
It is Time flowing into Eternity.
It is my little self engulfed in the Universal Self.
It is a man climbing the alter stairs to God.”

This excerpt was written by Dwight Bradley and included in the Inter-Church Hymnal published in 1937.
